Goldman Sachs is bolstering its alternative investment platform with the acquisition of Industry Ventures, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm with $7 billion in assets under management. The deal, valued at up to $1 billion, includes $665 million in cash and equity, with an additional $300 million tied to performance milestones through 2030.

The transaction, expected to close in Q1 2026, will integrate Industry Ventures' 45-person team into Goldman Sachs. The venture firm brings a track record of 1,000+ investments and 18% annual returns, along with DEEP expertise in the U.S. venture capital market cultivated over 25 years.

This strategic MOVE expands Goldman's $540 billion alternatives platform, creating new channels for wealthy clients to access high-growth startups and sectors. The acquisition underscores Wall Street's continued appetite for venture capital exposure despite macroeconomic headwinds.
